Mileage Challenge | Autonomous Driving Competition
Shell Eco-marathon returned to Poland for another exciting event at the Silesia Ring in Kamień Śląski. Student teams competed in the Mileage Challenge, pushing the boundaries of energy efficiency while battling high temperatures on track. This event marks the third of four mileage challenges this season, continuing a year-long showcase of innovation and collaboration.

Winner: UCL HyperMile - University College London – United Kingdom
Judges’ Remarks: The Data & Telemetry Award goes to a team that engineered the entire race — driver, pit crew, and vehicle — as a single instrumented, closed-loop system. Every decision, in the cockpit and on the pit wall, is data-driven and accountable; this is telemetry that doesn’t just report the race, it shapes it.
Runner-up: ThaiGer-H2-Racing Team - Hochschule Stralsund – Germany
Technical Innovation Award sponsored by Southwest Research Institute
The Technical Innovation Award is granted to the team showcasing exceptional technical creativity and effective utilisation of novel materials, components, methodologies, and inventions in specific aspects of their vehicle, such as the drive train, chassis, body, instrumentation, or tires.
Winner: Project Exergy - Imperial College London - United Kingdom
Judges’ Remarks: This year’s Technical Innovation Award recognises a team that built a custom tyre testing apparatus to measure vertical load, slip angle, camber, and speed - then used that data to redesign their steering geometry with an asymmetrical control arm, translating directly into a measurable efficiency gain.

Vehicle Design Award sponsored by Qatar Museums
The Vehicle Design award recognises teams that excel in developing vehicles that are not only technically sound but also visually appealing and user-friendly.
Winner (Prototype): Hydro2Motion - Hochschule München - Germany
Judges’ Remarks: This year’s Vehicle Design Award in the Prototype category recognises a standout engineering package: a carbon frame with forged nodes, innovative use of flax fibre and recycled carbon remnants, an exceptionally low drag coefficient, and a memorable body rooted in thoughtful historical research.
Winner (Urban Concept): PROMETHEUS ECO RACING - National Technical University of Athens - Greece
Judges’ Remarks: The Vehicle Design Award in the Urban Concept category recognises an exceptional clean-sheet design where every element - from CFD and lap simulation to CFRP monocoque, FEA validation, and a driver-first cockpit - connects directly to measurable efficiency gains, backed by the ambition to completely redesign the previous vehicle.
Safety Leadership Award
The safety award underscores safety's significance within Shell Eco-marathon, prompting all participating teams to actively integrate safe practices into their daily operations.

Judges’ Remarks: The winners have consistently demonstrated outstanding safety behaviours and strong leadership throughout the event. The more experienced team and team members have coached and led the newer member, and role modelled the safety behaviours we look for. The newer team members have actively embraced these principles and proposed.

Spirit of Shell Eco-marathon Award
This award celebrates teams that embody the core values of Shell Eco-marathon by showing exceptional teamwork, perseverance, and camaraderie.
Winner: Hydrogreen Team POLLUB - Hydra - Lublin University of Technology – Poland
Judges’ Remarks: This team exemplified a spirit of collaboration by lending a fuel cell ECU to another hydrogen team all while working hard to get through technical inspection. Their willingness to share parts and support fellow competitors in their home country truly embodies the essence of community and resilience in the Shell Eco-marathon.
