Shell Eco-marathon returned to the Middle East with a high-energy event at the Lusail International Circuit. Student teams competed in the Mileage Challenge, pushing the boundaries of energy efficiency on track. This event marked the beginning of the 2026 season and sets the tone for innovation and collaboration.

The Data and Telemetry Award celebrates teams that harness the power of data to optimise vehicle performance and enhance overall strategy.
Winner: Hyperion Racing Team - Monash University – Malaysia
Judges’ Remarks: This team stood out by placing the driver at the center of their telemetry system. Using a concept inspired by video games, they turned complex data into intuitive, real-time guidance, reducing cognitive load and enabling confident, data-driven performance.
Runner-up: Menofia Racing Team - Menofia University – Egypt
Technical Innovation Award sponsored by Southwest Research Institute
The Technical Innovation Award is granted to the team showcasing exceptional technical creativity and effective utilisation of novel materials, components, methodologies, and inventions in specific aspects of their vehicle, such as the drive train, chassis, body, instrumentation, or tires.
Winner: Antasena ITS Team - Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember – Indonesia
Judges’ Remarks: The winning team used a novel approach to optimize fuel cell performance using humidified intake air.
Runner-up: ITS TEAM Sapuangin - Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember - Indonesia
Vehicle Design Award sponsored by Qatar Auto Museum
The Vehicle Design award recognises teams that excel in developing vehicles that are not only technically sound but also visually appealing and user-friendly.
Winner - Prototype: Al Qorni Team - Universitas Ahmad Dahlan – Indonesia
Judges’ Remarks: Their vehicle does not only excel in terms of performance and energy efficiency, but it is also safe, ergonomic, aesthetically pleasing, and environmentally friendly. It presents an original and coherent design that maximizes Aesthetics, Ergonomics, Technical Feasibility, Aerodynamics, and Sustainability Practices.
Winner – Urban Concept: ZEAL Eco-Power - Tongji University – China
Judges’ Remarks: This team delivered an original, ergonomic, technically robust, aerodynamically validated, and sustainability-led Urban Concept that exemplifies the jury’s definition of excellent vehicle design.
Safety Leadership Award
The safety award underscores safety's significance within Shell Eco-marathon, prompting all participating teams to actively integrate safe practices into their daily operations.
Winner: S.U. Racing team - Satbayev Kazakh National Technical University – Kazakhstan
Judges’ Remarks: This team displayed consistently high standards of safety leadership behaviour throughout the week. They proposed innovative improvements to the safety management of the overall event.
Runner-up: Apatte62 Brawijaya Team 1 - Universitas Brawijaya – Indonesia
Spirit of Shell Eco-marathon Award
This award celebrates teams that embody the core values of Shell Eco-marathon by showing exceptional teamwork, perseverance, and camaraderie.
