Consumers are increasingly keen to control their energy consumption, but new solutions for reducing CO2 emissions in the home must not impede users’ everyday needs and comforts.
As part of Shell’s commitment to becoming a net-zero energy business by 2050, Shell Energy has been providing residential customers with 100% renewable electricity as well as easy and convenient ways to control their energy consumption and help create a better, cleaner energy future.
Objective
In a creative and visually engaging way, students should develop an innovative concept that helps to decrease carbon dioxide emissions in the home without compromising comfort and convenience.

With the aim of greater public awareness and involvement in the home decarbonisation mission, the E4 UFSC team devised a website to help consumers make better choices for their home when it comes to sustainability and responsible living.

Team H2politO - molecole urbane, Italy
This team saw the answer to the home decarbonisation challenge as reducing each home’s energy usage by as much as possible, so they thought up a non-invasive control system for the home.

Team Kaizen, India
Team Kaizen’s approach to the home decarbonisation challenge is multifaceted, understanding that a range of solutions are needed to significantly reduce carbon emissions from the residential sector.
