Meet the Sask Eco UC team from Canada
Meet the Sask Eco UC team, whose approach to Shell Eco-marathon is based on preparation for hard work and a belief that what you put in you get out.
Sask Eco UC has been participating in Shell Eco-marathon since 2017, bringing together a wide range of student experts including technologists in design manufacturing engineering, mechanical engineering, computer systems, machinists, and automotive service technicians. Together, they design and build all aspects of their vehicles.
The team from Saskatchewan Polytechnic have overcome challenges in their competition journey, including working in a colder climate, meaning they only get a month to test their vehicle outdoors ahead of the competition. The team adapted with smart use of equipment to test indoors and went on to secure first place in the Urban Concept ICE competition in the regional finals at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in April 2023.
For them, Shell Eco-marathon is an opportunity to mesh automotive interests with engineering and trades education, the chance for international experience and belief it looks great on a resume! The team have had much success in recent years, and believe it is due to being open to ideas and criticism, being prepared with spare parts and keeping it simple. Looking ahead to the World Championship, the team are looking forward to the challenge of going up against the best teams in the world!
