DTU Roadrunners, Denmark
DTU Roadrunners from Technical University of Denmark is passionate about excelling in STEM, building an eco-friendly car and inspiring change. Their belief is simple but powerful: by making cars more efficient, they can contribute to a better future for all.
DTU Roadrunners is a team of 15 dedicated students on the track with more members contributing behind the scenes back home, different roles and backgrounds, working together in the name of innovation and sustainability. To them, Shell Eco-marathon is not just a race; it represents a global opportunity to collaborate, innovate and advocate for better, cleaner mobility solutions.
This established and successful team have had their fair share of challenges in the competition. In the regional event that they attended in France, their car wouldn’t start, equipment broke down, and their rolling dyno malfunctioned – reducing their attempts by half but faltering wasn’t an option. Instead, they soldiered on, adapted quickly, and worked cohesively as a team. Such team spirit and focus on innovation served as the driving force behind their success, securing the first place in the Urban Concept Internal Combustion Engine category and second place in the regionals, which earned them a spot in the World Championship. For DTU, this winning moment is the most memorable from their 2023 season so far.
With great enthusiasm, the team eagerly looks forward to the World Championship in India. They’re excited to represent their team and country on a global stage and compete with teams from around the world, and ultimately, to be part of a global gathering of innovative minds and eco-friendly technologies that promise an inspiring and enriching experience.
Beyond their goal to build the most energy-efficient car, the team share a passion for applying their STEM skills to address challenges in society; Denmark’s aim to become carbon-neutral by 2050 aligns with this mission. With their energy-efficient car, they hope to be able to motivate others to do their own part and contribute towards a more sustainable future.
