Pitch the Future
A Cognitive Boost for Autonomous Vehicles
League competitions / Technical submission February 1 – 21, 2022 / Online event
This year for Pitch the Future in collaboration with Shell.ai and Udacity we invited Shell Eco-marathon teams to flex their STEM skills with this real-world challenge:
“How can the human factor be replaced by artificial intelligence (AI) to create a seamless autonomous vehicle (AV) experience?”
Participating teams from all over the world submitted a 30-second elevator pitch to showcase their unique solution, and the nine best entries pitched their ideas LIVE to a team of industry experts.
After a short deliberation the results are out! Congratulations to the regional and global winners of Pitch the Future 2022:

Global Winner
ASU Racing Team from Ain Shams University, Egypt
The team impressed the judges with a creative and effective solution to the serious issue of carjacking, proposing a cognitive boost to AVs that would give them the ability to detect suspicious activities and protect the passengers through decision-making models using the data gathered by the vehicle sensors.
Lead Judge: Daniel Williams, Head of Digital Product Innovations, Shell
“Great work by the team, strong presentation skills using the dramatic video and GTA5 clips, and backed up by a mature and robust piece of modelling. Very distinct problem chosen, which captured the imagination of the judges, really well done, team!”
