H2Polito on the importance of a telemetry system

H2polito's Telemetry System for Energy-Efficient Vehicles

By Shell Eco-marathon Team

4 min read

For Emanuele and his team H2Polito, a telemetry system is crucial in making sure their Shell Eco-marathon vehicle is energy-efficient.

Emanuele Simeone, Computer Engineering Division Manager for H2Polito from Politecnico Di Torino, Italy, talks about building their own telemetry system for the two cars they have in the competition. He explains how their telemetry system allows them to monitor their vehicles’ speed, energy consumption live location on the track. This also lets the team optimize each car’s performance to ensure energy efficiency.

Emanuele: A telemetry system is an informatics system that goes from the hardware to the firmware and the software…

[Visuals]

Cuts to vehicle running on track.

Emanuele voice-over: … that allows us to keep track of the vehicle in real time, and also off-track…
